Why YOU Benefit From Our Focus on Four Main Areas of Law
In order to better serve our clients, we limit our areas of practice to criminal defense including: civil and criminal mental health commitment, wills and probate, and guardianship. Our criminal defense law practice includes crimes of burglary, violations of probation, assault with a deadly weapon, check forgery, sexual assault, and other felonies and misdemeanors.
Many law firms advertise that they practice in multiple areas of law. This is often appealing to clients because they feel like a single attorney or firm can meet all of their legal needs. It can be appealing to lawyers as well, because it offers them variety. Years of practicing in such an environment gave our attorneys and staff great experience in numerous areas of law; however, it also allowed us to recognize that it very difficult for most lawyers to be really knowledgeable and effective in a wide variety of areas. We determined that our clients are, in fact, best served when we limit the number of areas in which we consistently practice. Consequently, The Law Office of Krista A. Chacona, P.C. now focuses primarily on four areas of law:
- Wills / Probate: We advise individuals and couples in modest income brackets as to how to best protect their assets at their deaths. We help our clients achieve these goals through wills, trusts and other estate planning documents including, but not limited to, durable and medical powers of attorney, advance directives, and designations of guardianship. Then upon death, we guide families and executors through the probate process.
- Guardianships: When a loved one is incapacitated and needs assistance to handle their affairs and/or finances, we can help you assess what steps must be taken to protect your loved one's health and welfare. This could mean a temporary or permanent guardianship of the individual's person and/or estate or some less restrictive alternative.
Client-Centered Representation Sometimes Means Going Beyond “Standard” Legal Assistance
When handling cases for clients with out-of-state family, we work hard to keep the family informed, giving peace of mind to the parents of young adults who committed crimes while in Texas. Often mental health clients will require additional assistance including non-legal referrals to ensure the comfort of the accused and reduce stress on the family prior to, and after, resolution of the case. If you retain the services of our law firm we will be there when you call—with all the legal knowledge you will need to obtain the optimal resolution for your case or situation.
